Two regular shop customers, Dev and Griff, took part in what they thought was a corporate video for William Hill in Watford. Unbeknown to them, heavyweight champion and local legend Anthony Joshua was just around the corner, ready to give them the surprise of their lives.
Dev, a Homicide Detective, and Griff, a Payroll Manager, were asked to visit their local shop to film an interview about how William Hill's Watford shop has become a great spot to meet friends, catch up over a coffee, talk about sport, and place a bet.
Determined to get back to basics and return to his roots after his latest defeat in the ring, AJ was thrilled to be able to pay a visit to customers and staff at the Watford William Hill shop. Safe to say, Dev and Griff were shocked to see him when AJ walked in. Together they shared stories about their close-knit community, keeping the Watford spirit alive and how William Hill continues to help bring people together.
William Hill shop colleagues Grace and Tumba then got a chance to spend some time with the British sporting icon.
Tumba recalled the event as "It was one of the best days ever, it was amazing to meet the champ. We discussed Congo, where I come from, and AJ was great to spend time with him. He's a top guy and very down to earth."
Gracey said, "I enjoyed the day so much. AJ was so lovely and kind. I'm so thankful that William Hill allowed me to meet him."
It was a knockout day all around!
